Introduction
Capt Bishnu Narayan Yadav, popularly known as BN is a distinguished Security and Safety Consultant whose career spans over four decades, bringing a wealth of expertise to organizations navigating the complexities of modern security challenges. His journey began as a Captain in the Indian Army from August 1976 to September 1981, where he developed foundational leadership skills and a strategic mindset. This military experience laid the groundwork for a career dedicated to safeguarding people and assets in high-stakes environments.
Transitioning into the civilian sector, BN served as a Security Officer at Centaur Hotel in New Delhi, followed by a significant role at the Government of India Press. In these positions, he refined his crisis management and customer service abilities, adeptly handling high-pressure situations while ensuring the safety of both guests and sensitive materials. His early career experiences equipped him with a nuanced understanding of the intersection between security and customer experience.
From July 1991 to August 2014, BN held the pivotal role of Chief Security Officer at the elite Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he led a dedicated security team in creating a safe academic environment. He developed and implemented comprehensive executive protection measures for dignitaries and VIPs, and established robust crisis management protocols that not only enhanced security but also supported the institution’s academic mission. His proactive approach to security allowed IIT Delhi to thrive in a secure setting, demonstrating the critical balance between safety and operational efficiency.
Following this, he spent nearly eight years as a Security Consultant at Werfen Consultants, where he provided strategic security advice that emphasized risk assessment and tailored solutions for a diverse clientele. His ability to analyze complex security landscapes has earned him a reputation as a trusted advisor, capable of aligning security needs with business objectives to enhance profitability.
Currently, BN serves as the Director on the Board of Sunrise IT Infrasoft Pvt Ltd, as well as a Technical Expert for the Quality Council of India. His advisory roles with the Asian Professional Security Association (India Chapter), Bright View Telecom Pvt Ltd, and The Rajasthan School in Kotputli further showcase his commitment to elevating security standards across various sectors. Additionally, he mentors members of the All IITs Officers Federation, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. Lokinder brings over three decades of extensive experience in fraud prevention, investigation, and aviation security. Having dedicated his career to Air India, the National Flag Carrier of India, he retired in 2019 as the Regional Vigilance Head for the Northern Region, leaving behind a legacy of enhanced security protocols and a robust fraud prevention framework.
Beginning his journey in 1986 as a Security Assistant, Lokinder underwent comprehensive training in Civil Aviation Security, where he played a pivotal role in safeguarding Air India flights against unlawful interference. In 2001, he transitioned to the Vigilance Department, where he quickly rose to the position of Assistant Manager Vigilance. His leadership was instrumental in cultivating a proactive security culture, focusing on operational excellence and compliance. He successfully conceptualized and implemented a performance-driven Investigation Department, which not only improved customer engagement but also significantly increased the organization’s profitability.
Throughout his tenure, Lokinder demonstrated a keen ability to manage complex fraud investigations, handle litigation cases involving corruption and malpractice, and conduct thorough audits of service contracts to ensure optimal value for the company. His initiatives included establishing a fraud incentive award program that recognized employees for their contributions to fraud prevention, ultimately saving the organization substantial amounts of money.
With a strong foundation in data analytics and compliance frameworks, Lokinder excelled in analyzing patterns related to fraud, including identity theft and sales fraud, thereby identifying potential threats and enhancing the organization’s defenses.
